Dr. Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy (born July 8, 1949), popularly known as Y.S.R., was the son of Raja Reddy who served in the armed forces and spend a lot of time in Burma. It was in Burma that Raja Reddy came across Christian missionaries and soon because a strong devotee and converted to Christianity.
YSR Reddy remains a Christian and is learnt that he often studied Bible from a very early age.
His schooling was in Bellary where his father was a contractor for irrigation canal projects. He graduated with a degree in medical science from Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College (MRMC) of Gulbarga University, in Karnataka and completed his House Surgeonship at S.V. Medical College, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. He was also the elected leader of the House Surgeon's Association at S.V. Medical College, Tirupati.
He was quickly into politics which was his real interest and started his service to the people of Andra Pradesh from then on.
YSR married at an early age and it is believed his wife supported YSR and even did a lot of his homework / planning. He is said to have been a very loving husband and a great father. He is survived by his wife, son and a daughter.
